With a new year comes new plans and one such example is the ongoing relocation of various Shared Services departments located on 5th floor to other floors within the Nation Centre building.
Commencing the relocation journey is the HR department whose offices have moved to the opposite wing on 5th floor as opposed to its previous location facing Kimathi Lane.
The construction of the new spaces officially began on January 4 with those affected by the move informed as and when their new offices spaces were expected to be ready.
The construction of the new office spaces were instigated by the construction of new TV studios on 6th floor in line with Nation Media Group’s vision towards emerging as the Media of Africa for Africa. Given the nature of work for both radio and TV staff located on the floor and the need to access the studios regularly, NBD staff located on 6th floor have in turn moved to 5th floor on the side facing Kimathi Lane, close to the Finance team.
Additionally, a number of closed offices located on 5th floor are currently being resized to create room with the two small meeting rooms on the same floor converted into offices.
Not to be left behind is 4th floor where the closed offices are currently being resized, without forgetting the redesigning of sitting space on IT, Procurement and Administration side and the removal of some of the bulk filling cabinets on the floor.
As part of the relocation plan, some of the Shared Services departments will see themselves relocated to our Mombasa Road offices with a plan to eventually relocate all the Shared Services departments to the Mombasa Road plant offices once the new offices are completed.
Space on 2nd floor will additionally be rationalized to create more sitting space for all sales teams.
Overseeing the project is Company Secretary and Head of Administration Mr. James Kinyua who will update on when and where those affected will be required to relocate upon the completion of all the floor plans. |
